My amazingly wonderful friend Amy forwarded a link to me this week. She thought it was a cool project. And ever since I've been DYING to play with!

I finally did sat down to do it! Thanks to Di and her work on the tutorial for this. She is now one of my new fav blogs to visit! Tutorial here: http://dianagibbs.typepad.com/stampin_with_di/2008/06/box-in-a-bag-tutorial.html

Thank you cards... for a customer

I was contacted by a friend to make her some wedding thank you cards. She saw one of my earlier posts and said "I HAVE TO HAVE THAT!" So, make them, I did! She got married last weekend... and I'm getting her 100 thank you cards out to her this week! Can you see what I've been busy with?

These colors are slightly different than my original post - meant to match her wedding colors, of course.

Christmas in July swap (WS) AND Faux metal technique

When SU posted a new video for the Faux Metal Technique it was just the inspiration I needed to add that special something to a swap I was working on. The challenge was to make any full Christmas card using any colors EXCEPT SUs Glorious Green! Easy, huh?!

So, I kicked it up a notch and added a few punches. I used SU's crayons directly on the stamp and then misted the image w/ a spray bottle to give a faux watercolor effect. I LOVE this look! I set those aside and let them dry... and in the meantime cut the rest of my layers and started assembling. Then the tree layer was ready for the Merry Christmas stamp and embossing.

Once that was done I worked on the faux metal snowflake. So much fun! If you haven't tried this yet - you really ought to!

Details, details...
Stamp sets: Lovely as a Tree, Seasonal Whimsy, Holiday & Wishes and Print Pattern background
Colors: Wild Wasabi, Real Red, Gable Green, Basic Black and Whisper White
Other: Silver embossing powder, Wild Wasabi double stitched ribbon, SU Crayons, spray bottle, black craft ink, clear embossing powder and scallop punch

WSColor In Challenge #1

Here is a post of a recent swap. Now that the swap has taken place I can finally post my contribution to the swap! (Wouldn't want to ruin any fun surprises, now would I?!) This challenge was to use any SU stamp set and color - and simply "COLOR IN" somewhere on the card.

I love this faux watercolor technique... I pull ink off the classic stamp pad w/ a blender pen and color in after I've embossed an outline image (so the black ink doesn't smudge). Super easy. Super fun. Super cute, eh?!

Details, details...
Stamp set: Window Dressing (sneak peek of new hostess set from SU!)
Colors: Certainly Celery, Apricot Appeal, Pumpkin Pie and Soft Sky
Other: Blender pen, purely pomegranate ink, scallop punch, black craft ink / clear embossing powder, Apricot Appeal grosgrain ribbon
